I usually skate outdoor concrete parks and have been very happy with the Bones SPF wheels that I've been riding all summer. I have a 2nd setup that i just use for rolling to the shops and stuff and the one thing that bugs me about most modern wheels is that they are so hard and give a rough ride on some of the less forgiving surfaces that adorn the many streets in my neighborhood. Time for some soft wheels me thinks….
Not many shops seem to sell the Bones Softcores, but Google brought up a well designed UK based online skate shop called Skateboards Of Choice that had a good range of sizes in stock. I ordered these late afternoon and i was surprised to find the postman on my doorstep the day after next. Good service and a skater owned shop too.
The wheels are graded 80A – very soft. They are superb for rolling rough pavements and roads and give a really smooth ride. Perfect for filmers or just for cruising. They come in 60mm and 56mm sizes, i opted for the 60mm but i have since had the opportunity to try both and definitely prefer the 56mms, even though the 60s are a little faster.
The only thing i would say is don't expect them to perform on wood or smooth concrete. They fall short in the speed department compared to harder wheels. Because of the softness they are also very quiet, I rode them in my local bowl and nobody could hear me - A pretty dangerous situation when other skaters and BMXers are around.
All in all a pretty good wheel for cruising and worth checking out if you want something a lot softer.
